What are the requirements needed for applying for a visitor visa? |
You must read carefully the Application for Visiting New Zealand Guide (1018).
You need to be in good health, have good character and the visa you will be applying for needs to match your intentions for your visit. You need to give evidence that your passport will be valid for three months past the date you will be leaving New Zealand, evidence that you have plans and the means to leave New Zealand (for example confirmed travel tickets out of New Zealand, or enough money to buy a ticket with the period of your permit), evidence that you have got enough money to support yourself during your stay (NZ$1000 per person per month or NZ$400 per person per month if accommodation is paid for). Also if you have a sponsor who will pay for your ticket out of New Zealand, this can be accepted as proof. |

- Study - If you have a Visitor's Permit you can only take one course of study providing the duration of the course is less than three months. You need to apply for a Student Visa/Permit if the course is longer than three months. You will also need to have been offered a place by a certified New Zealand education provider.
- Work - You can take part in business activities in new Zealand on a Visitor's Permit but if you want to work in New Zealand full time you need to apply for a work permit. You cannot start your job offer until you have been accepted by the Immigration services.
- Invest in Business - You can gain residence as an Investor, or if you want to establish a business. You can relocate your business to New Zealand, while New Zealand offers great business advantages and a good business environment. You will also need to qualify under the Investor Category.
- Buy / Set Up a Business - You can arrange business negotiations under a Visitor Permit as long as you stay no longer than three months, otherwise you need to apply for another category. You cannot set up a business on a Visitor's Permit.
